The students and alumni of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panaji took the sound of music to a whole new level at the Jubilee Battle of the Bands held in the Bicentenary Hall on 14 September, 2019. This was the first of the landmark eight events, which are being held to mark the silver jubilee celebrations of the institution. The judges for the day included four eminent personalities from the Goan music scene- Mr. Constancio Diniz, Mr. Blazio Pinto, Mr. Mukesh Ghatwal and Mr. Anthony Bringel. Dignitaries present on the occasion included Rector Fr. Avin Carvalho, Principal Fr. Savio Gomes, Fr. Chrys D’Cunha and Mr. Christopher Gomes.
The nine groups on show comprised of five bands from the school, and four bands of ex-students. The talented bands enthralled the raucous audience with non-stop performances of melodies, old and new. A vacant area at the back of the hall was dedicated for the students to dance their heart out as the bands belted out popular hits. Principal Fr. Savio Gomes, in his address, was effusive in his praise for all the performers and thanked the ex-students in particular for making the event a grand success. The Batch of 2017, led by Rizzio de Noronha were declared champions, while the Batch of 2015 led by Akash Ghadge, together with the present XI Science occupied the runners up positions. The scintillating event drew to a close with the vote of thanks by Tr. Zenobia Miranda.
Many congratulations to the management and teachers, Ms. Zenobia Miranda, Ms. Mitchel Cota, Ms. Rakhee Korgaonkar and Ms.Samiksha Gojekar, who organised such a successful competition.
