Don Bosco Higher Secondary, Panjim, on Friday, 27th September 2019 invited Dr. Peter Castellino and Ms. Donna Noronha from the COOJ Foundation to conduct a session on mental health for the students.
The programme commenced with “You Matter” – a thought-provoking message item directed by MsSelza Lopes and Ms Trisha Almeida. Dr. Castellino then spoke on the psyche of the human mind and its functioning,elucidating on the issueof suicides in Goa and how the Foundation through their various out-reach programs have helped save numerous lives, and how we too can do the same! Healsoscreened various short-films on the topic.
After the session a prize distribution ceremony was conducted for the class-wise competitions held during the Mental Health Week. In the Slogan Writing Competition which was held on 23rd September on the topics: ‘Mental Health and Body Image’ and ‘Substance Abuse and Youth’, XI Commerce A bagged the first place, while in the Poster Making Competition, which was held on 25th September on the topics: ‘Lifting the Stigma Off Mental Health’ and ‘Healing the Inner Child’,the first place was taken by XII Science B.
The program,which was ably compered by Andrew De Sousa, concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Kimberly Fernandes.
